Covestro technology helps give new Puma football boot “outstanding precision”
German functional fabrics provider Trans-Textil has used Insqin waterborne polyurethane technology from Covestro as the base for the coating technology that has gone into a new Puma football boot.

Puma’s evoPOWER Vigor 1 boot uses proprietary Accufoam technology that consists of three-dimensional, diamond-shaped dots applied to both sides of a spandex upper material. The dots, called Topaz-DOTS, are supplied by Trans-Textil.

A member of the footwear innovation team at Puma, Matthias Hartmann, has said the material provides “exceptional comfort” and “outstanding precision” to wearers of the boot.

For his part, Covestro’s global head of textile coating technology, Nick Smith, said he was “particularly proud of this development”. He described the boot as “a beautiful, highly technical and sustainable product, made possible by great collaboration. This is the very essence of what Covestro stands for.”
