Puma’s shoe sales propel a 16% rise
Footwear sales have helped sportswear brand Puma to a 16% rise in sales for the third quarter, to €3.1 billion.

CEO Bjørn Gulden said: “The third quarter was another good quarter for us with double-digit growth in all regions and strong growth in all product segments. With gross profit margin exceeding our expectations and a continued focus on operating expenses, we were able to deliver a better than expected operating result (profit).”

Footwear styles including Platform, Suede, Basket Heart and Ignited Limitless were popular. Accessories also saw double-digit growth, while clothing grew at a “more modest rate”.

The women’s business was strengthened through a second Rihanna collection this year, launched in September, and the brand has also teamed up with actress Selena Gomez.
