Covestro CEO to step down earlier than expected

Polymer manufacturer Covestro has said its chief executive, Patrick Thomas, will retire on May 31, earlier than previously announced. 

Mr Thomas had been expected to continue until the end of his contract on September 30. 

He will be succeeded as CEO by Dr Markus Steliemann, currently Covestro’s chief commercial officer. This appointment was announced in 2017. 

The other members of the company’s management board for the coming period will be Dr Klaus Schäfer, whose contract as chief technology officer has been extended until the end of 2022, and Dr Thomas Toepfer, who took over as chief financial officer on April 1.
