Covestro to have new CEO in 2018

25/05/2017
Polymer manufacturer Covestro has announced that its chief executive, Patrick Thomas, will step down when his contract expires at the end of September 2018. He has been in the role for more than 10 years.

Dr Richard Pott, chairman of Covestro’s supervisory board, paid tribute to Mr Thomas and thanked him for his service. “Under his leadership, the company has achieved remarkable success, becoming a leading innovator in the chemical industry with outstanding financial results,” he said.

He will be succeeded by Dr Markus Steilemann, who currently serves as the company’s chief commercial officer. He joined Bayer, Covestro’s parent company in 1999, moving to Bayer MaterialScience (renamed as Covestro in 2015) five years later.
