Former Converse CEO chosen to lead Celliant maker

Hologenix, the maker of Celliant textile technology, has hired Jim Calhoun as CEO to help expand its applications into the medical sector.

Mr Calhoun was the CEO of footwear and sportswear brand Converse until April 2016 when he left in a group reshuffle, after joining Nike in 2011 as CEO of Hurley.

"Responsive technologies are here to stay,” said Jim Calhoun. "Consumers will learn that their body is an energy source and can power their own health.”

Celliant is made of a blend of thermo-reactive minerals infused into polyester fibres. Products made with Celliant fabric absorb and convert body heat into infrared energy (IR) that is recycled back into skin and tissue, claims Hologenix. IR is a vasodilator, increasing blood flow to tissue and muscles.
