Hyosung appoints new marketing director
Fibre producer Hyosung has appointed Mike Simko as its new marketing director. He will lead the group’s global marketing initiatives for its Creora elastane, Mipan nylon and specialty polyester fibres, aiming to deliver “innovation, superior value, and collaborative services throughout the textile value chain”.

He has more than 20 years’ experience of the textiles and chemicals sectors and previously had leadership roles at Invista and DuPont.

Mr Simko replaces Ria Stern, a well known figure in the performance textiles segment. Ms Stern will continue to work for Hyosung in a consultancy capacity.

Hyosung chief executive, Cho Hyun Joon, said on announcing the change that the group’s appointment of Mike Simko, along with other new people in Europe, Asia, and the US, combined with continued investment in production facilities, underscores Hyosung’s long-term commitment to the textiles industry. “We plan to continue to launch innovative products, deliver superior value and work with mills, brands and retailers globally,” he said.

For his part, Mr Simko said he looks forward to leading a growing team and to showcasing Hyosung innovations at ISPO 2018 in Munich (January 28-31).
