Praise for Invista from Chinese textile partner

The assistant general manager of Chinese textile manufacturer Luthai Textile, Wang Changzhao, has said the close working partnership it has with fibre manufacturer Invista has been crucial to its success in bringing new innovations to market.

“We could not have got to where we are today without the support of Invista. Its science base, technologies, technical services and international market knowledge make it the ideal partner,” he said.

The two companies began collaborating in 2002 when Luthai used Lycra Freef!t technology, Lycra T400 fibre and Coolmax fibre. Mr Wang said the company was instantly impressed by Invista’s “professionalism and its willingness to adjust and adapt fibre innovations to our needs.”

Luthai used Lycra’s Freef!t technology to develop wrinkle-resistant stretch fabrics for shirts. Mr Wang explained it sought Invista’s help because its own technicians “were having difficulties in achieving the performance standards we wanted to offer our customers.” He said a special joint working team helped to solve the problems.

Invista announced in October that it had agreed to sell its apparel and advanced textiles business, which includes the Lycra and Coolmax fibre brands, to Chinese textile group Shandong Ruyi. The deal is expected to be completed later this year.
