Invista will introduce advanced ADN technology at second Texas facility

25/05/2018
Fibre manufacturer Invista has said it will invest $250 million to upgrade the manufacturing technology and increase production of adiponitrile (ADN) at its facility in Victoria, Texas.

ADN is a key ingredient in the production of nylon 6,6 fibres and plastics.

The upgraded technology was first developed and used at another Invista facility in Texas, in the city of Orange. The company has already announced plans to roll it out at the facility it co-owns with Solvay in Chalampé, France.

It is said to bring improved product yields, reduced energy consumption, lower greenhouse gas emissions, enhanced process stability and reduced capital intensity, compared to existing technologies.

Work on the upgrades to the facility in Victoria are expected to get underway in the first quarter of 2019.
