Invista to build new textile innovation centre in China

05/04/2018
Polymer and fibre manufacturer Invista has announced that its apparel and advanced textiles (A&AT) division has signed a memorandum of understanding to construct a new textile innovation centre in Foshan, China.

The facility will be equipped with modern textile processing equipment for knitting and weaving, as well as equipment for garment engineering, fabric certification and analytic testing.

It will also feature an innovation development area where Invista’s customers and its research and development personnel can meet to develop and test fibre, fabric and garment innovations.

Jack Yang, Invista A&AT chief technology officer for the East Region, said: “We are excited to attract R&D personnel to our new Innovation Centre as well as use this facility to network with the experienced experts from our other Labs, while we work with customers to develop and commercialise new products.”

The division already operates textile research and development labs in the US, Italy and Taiwan.

In October 2017, Invista announced it had entered into a “definitive agreement” to sell its apparel and advanced textiles business to Chinese textile group Shandong Ruyi. The deal is expected to be completed by mid-2018, subject to regulatory clearance from competition authorities.
