The organisers of ISPO bestowed a lifetime achievement award on Gertrude Boyle, former president of Columbia Sportswear, during the 2018 exhibition in Munich. ‘Ma’ Boyle took an active part in running Columbia Sportswear until she was well into her nineties.

On awarding her the ISPO Cup, show organisers called her a visionary of the outdoor industry.

She did not travel to Germany for the exhibition this year, but her son, Tim Boyle, chief executive of Columbia Sportswear, collected the cup on her behalf.
