Lenzing expands production of Ecovero fibre to China
16/05/2018
The fibre was unveiled in May 2017, with Lenzing saying at the time it would have “the lowest environmental impact in the industry”. Ecovero fibres are derived from sustainable wood sources and are manufactured using a production process that has “significantly lower” emissions and water impact than conventional viscose.
Lenzing has also pointed to Ecovero’s traceability as another advantage, explaining that the fibres can be identified throughout its use in the supply chain.
Hu Jian, Lenzing’s vice president for North Asia, has said: “Thanks to this special manufacturing system, we are supporting the trend in the fashion industry towards greater transparency. It is becoming increasingly important to know where the products come from and which path they have covered."
Until now, Ecovero fibres have only been manufactured at the group’s site in Lenzing, Austria.
