Sustainable Apparel Coalition signs up first Bangladeshi manufacturer

It joins more than 220 global brands, retailers and manufacturers, as well as non-profit organisations and academic institutions, which have committed to improving supply chain sustainability in the apparel, footwear and textile industry.
Denim Expert will use SAC’s Higg Index to increase environmental and social responsibility throughout its supply chain. It will also contribute data and resources to support the development of the Higg Index.
At the time of the announcement, Mostafiz Uddin, managing director of Denim Expert, said: “We are pleased to join the SAC, confident it will have a positive impact on product sustainability over time and become a model for how industries can collaborate in making a positive impact on value chain performance.”
For his part, SAC CEO Jason Kibbey said he welcomed the addition of Denim Expert to the group, adding that the company’s involvement “widens the scope of our impact within the industry”.
