Chemicals group Huntsman Corporation has opened a new multi-purpose facility in Amata Vietnam industrial park, near to Ho Chi Minh City. It will house operations related to the company’s polyurethanes and advanced materials business.

The site consists of manufacturing, R&D capabilities, a technical service centre, warehouse and distribution space, and a commercial office.

Commenting on the opening of the new facility, Tony Hankins, president of Huntsman Polyurethanes, said: “Vietnam is one of the largest and fastest growing countries in Asia Pacific. For Polyurethanes, we’ve seen double-digit growth rates for a sustained period and fully expect this to continue.”

Among the products that will be manufactured there are polyurethane products for the footwear market. Mr Hankins said the products made there will be primarily consumed in Vietnam, with the rest exported to Cambodia.

In addition to this facility, Huntsman’s other sites in Vietnam include a distribution warehouse in Dong Nai province and a technical service centre in Hanoi.
