Functional fabrics 'deliver benefits almost everywhere’

Performance Days has announced that the special topic at the next edition’s Performance Forum will be ‘Beyond Conventional Function’. It will highlight fabrics that contain a special added benefit, such as odour neutralising properties, flame retardancy or smart features.

This special topic is on top of the show’s overall theme, ‘The Beauty of Function’, which aims to show that functional fabrics can also be beautiful. 

The Performance Jury has selected 240 fabrics and more than 150 accessories from around 1,100 submissions. They will be displayed at the Performance Forum and on the Performance Wall, with the focus on innovations for the summer 2021 season. 

Of these fabrics with special functions, the organisers have said: “These fabrics deliver benefits almost everywhere, outdoors as well as in urban environments, in business as well as sports clothing. Granted, the original DNA and the expertise for function come from the field of sports. However, it can now benefit an ever expanding clothing market — even in the fashion segment.”
