WSA technical editor to discuss smart yarns in Munich

12/04/2019
Speakers from a range of organisations and backgrounds will deliver expert talks at the next edition of the Performance Days exhibition in Munich (May 8-9).

The first day of the programme will kick-off with two presentations on summer 2021 trends in functional fabrics and colours, delivered by textile expert Ulrike Arlt and designer Nora Kühner respectively. Representatives from the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) and the International Association of Natural Textiles will also speak on day one.

Sophie Bramel, technical editor of WSA Magazine, will lead a panel dedicated to the topic of smart yarns. It will focus on the challenges of engineering new properties into a yarn or sewing thread.

As has become customary at Performance Days, the second day of expert talks will be based around the focus topic, which for this edition is ‘The Beauty of Function’. Notable speakers here will include Graeme Raeburn, performance director of UK-based responsible fashion brand Raeburn, and Julian Lings, the sustainability manager of outdoor brand The North Face.

Ms Bramel will lead her second panel discussion on day two, this time focusing on innovative techniques that have made it possible to introduce functional qualities into everyday clothing products.

The full programme of expert talks is available on the Performance Days website
