Functional Fabric Fair to launch West Coast event
The organisers of the Functional Fabric Fair, which had its first edition in New York in July 2018, have announced that they will launch a second event on the West Coast of the US this year.

The first edition of this new event is scheduled to take place from October 22-23 at the Oregon Convention Centre in Portland.

Like its East Coast counterpart, the Functional Fabric Fair in Portland is organised by Reed Exhibitions and Design & Development GmbH Textile Consult, organiser of the Performance Days exhibition. US textile Concept III will also lend its support.

“Following the successful launch of the US Functional Fabric Fair powered by Performance Days this past July, we are pleased to address a market void for a curated sourcing platform for outdoor and activewear functional fabric and accessories in the fall on the West Coast,” said Steve McCullough of Reed Exhibitions.

For his part, Marco Weichert, general manager of Design & Development GmbH Textile Consult, said: “Having just celebrated our 10th anniversary in Munich this past year and experiencing tremendous industry response with a 50% growth in visitors and exhibitors, we are pleased to bring this same standard of business in our commitment to the US-based events.”

The Functional Fabric Fair powered by Performance Days on the West Coast will include exhibitors, workshops, industry presentations, professional networking opportunities and matchmaking programmes.

Textile manufacturers, suppliers and service providers will present their performance materials and technical textiles for the winter 2021 season. Visitors are expected to include designers, product managers, purchasing agents and representatives of sports and outdoor clothing manufacturers.

The next Functional Fabric Fair will take place from July 22-23 at the Javits Centre in New York City.
