ISPO Shanghai’s football focus pays off
Visitors to ISPO Shanghai were able to meet players from German Bundesliga football clubs FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, as well as Chinese football legend Fan Zhiyi, as part of the event’s focus on football.

Organiser Messe München said China will have 70,000 new football pitches before the end of next year.

Visitor numbers were up 8% to 15,579, with international brands such as Columbia, Lafuma and The North Face in attendance.

ISPO director Tobias Gröber said: “The atmosphere in the full halls was very good. The great interest underlines the importance of ISPO Shanghai as the leading platform for the international sports business in China.”

The keynote speech by Chinese mountaineer Xia Boyu, who climbed Mount Everest at the age of 69, after a double amputation. “For the outdoor industry and numerous outdoor enthusiasts, he is an inspiration,” said Gröber.

The next ISPO Shanghai will take place at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from July 2 to 4, 2020.
