Outerwear brand Oros secures US Department of Defense contract

Performance and outerwear brand Oros has been awarded a multi-million-dollar contract with the US Department of Defense (DOD), effective immediately. Specifically, the agreement is with the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center division of the DOD and Northeastern University’s Kostas Research Institute.
The contract encompasses a 3-year partnership through which Northeastern University and the DOD will support Oros as they continue to engineer their signature insulation.
Oros is best known for Solarcore, insulating technology that, according to the company, incorporates aerogel – insulation utilised by NASA in space shuttles and Mars rovers – to create breathable and durable performance apparel.
The contract will support the company’s R&D initiatives and “help bring to life Oros’ next generation insulation tech,” said co-founder and CEO Michael Markesbery.
