New PrimaLoft insulation to make debut in LL Bean sleeping bag

Outdoor brand LL Bean will be the first brand to use PrimaLoft’s new Gold Insulation with Cross Core product, an innovation that features a patent-pending thermal technology originally developed by NASA.

PrimaLoft has combined its synthetic insulation fibres with aerogel fibres to offer enhanced warmth and decreased weight. NASA developed this silica gel for use in aeronautical applications. Its highly porous, low-density structure forms a barrier that locks out cold and heat. 

Gold Insulation with Cross Core is the first product to combine it with other fibre technologies. It will feature in LL Bean’s Ultralight Aero Sleeping Bag and PrimaLoft’s Packaway line of coats, jackets and vests from spring 2018. The new combined insulation reportedly offers a 11%-55% increase in warmth.

The PrimaLoft Cross Core series will be available industry-wide from Autumn 2019.
