Exclusive one-year deal for Patagonia on ‘eco’ PrimaLoft insulation line

Performance insulation and fabric developer PrimaLoft presented a new line called Gold Insulation Eco at the OutDoor exhibition in Friedrichshafen in mid-July.

Gold Insulation Eco has 55% post-consumer recycled content and is the result of a challenge that outdoor brand Patagonia set for PrimaLoft, asking its supplier to add post-consumer recycled components to its existing Gold Insulation material, which Patagonia has used in its Nano Puff collection of jackets.

Now, PrimaLoft Gold Insulation Eco will be featured exclusively in the Nano Puff line for one year, beginning in the autumn 2016 collection. The material will become available to the rest of the industry from autumn 2017 onwards.

According to PrimaLoft, the new Gold Insulation Eco matches exactly the performance characteristics of the original insulation material, offering high levels of warmth-to-weight ratios, both wet and dry performance ratings, softness, dry times, compressibility and durability.

“We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with PrimaLoft to develop a uniquely sustainable product,” said Kristo Torgersen, alpine and snow product line director at Patagonia. “This partnership is part of our continuing efforts to reduce the environmental impact of doing business.”
