Swimwear collection combines performance and modesty
A new line from Nike offers a more modest take on performance swimwear. The Victory Collection features a full-coverage swimsuit as well as separates, including a hijab, tunic top and swim leggings.

Constructed from warp-knit fabric, the collection is said to be lightweight, breathable and quick-drying, with head-to-toe UPF 40+ rating.

Both the swimsuit and the swim tunic top have a built-in sports bra with perforated cups. The hijab features an integrated mesh pocket that holds hair in place throughout underwater movement.

Nike said inspiration for the collection came from athletes’ enthusiasm for the Nike Pro Hijab. Designers took into account that existing versions of modest swimwear reportedly left wearers weighted down by baggy garments or worrying about whether their hijabs and coverings would remain in place.

“The more we listened, the more possibility we saw to serve female athletes in new dimensions,” said Martha Moore, Nike’s creative director, VP. “As we continue broadening our vision for innovation, we’re excited to inspire more women to see themselves in sport by thinking creatively and designing inclusively.”

She added that the collection, which will be available February 1, “shows the power of innovation to invite all women to discover the joy of sport.”
