Lenzing to build ‘biggest wood dissolving plant’
Austrian fibre producer The Lenzing Group is to build a wood dissolving plant in Brazil as part of a joint venture with wood products group Duratex.

It says the plant, with an annual capacity of 500,000 tons, will be the largest production facility of its kind and will be finished in 2022.

The Sao Paulo facility will supply Lenzing’s entire volume of dissolving wood pulp, a key raw material for its bio-based fibres.

Stefan Doboczky, CEO of the Lenzing Group, said: “With this investment, we will become more competitive, act more independently and subsequently strengthen our market position.”
