It will expand the production of the raw material sulfuric acid at the site, as well as construct an air purification and sulfur recovery plant.
As a result of the investments, the plant aims to improve exhaust emission values, reduce the use of fossil fuels and reduce its annual CO2 emissions by 15,000 tons.
Stefan Doboczky, CEO, said: “On the basis of these investments, Lenzing is taking the next step in achieving its climate targets.
“At the same time, it will also reach a significantly higher level of autonomy with respect to a vital raw material.”
The group aims to reduce its CO2 emissions per ton of manufactured pulp and fibres by 50% by 2030, and no longer generate any net CO2 emissions by 2050.
