Four diving teams rejoin Healthy Seas mission

Four teams of volunteer divers are heading back to the waters to collect the ghost fishing nets that are turned into new nylon 6 by Aquafil for its Econyl brand and then used by sports and swimwear companies.

The mission also rids the seas of the waste nets that trap and kill fish, sea mammals and birds.

The Dutch Ghost Diving team will head back to the North Sea shipwreck of S.S.Trevier while Duikteam Zeester will hunt for ghost nets in the northern part of the North Sea.

Ghost Diving Poland will join the Ghost Diving Adriatic team to free reefs in Croatia from lost fishing gear. 

The organisation will also host a webinar on July 22, ‘Designing for the Planet’, presented by the journalist Lucy Siegle. She will be joined by Daniel Butz, CEO of OBJECT Carpet, and Martina Santoni, ECONYL brand and communications manager.
