A third of fashion industry now covered by Fashion Pact
The number of signatories to the Fashion Pact – a commitment to protect climate, biodiversity and the oceans – has doubled to 60, representing over 200 brands and a third of the fashion industry, according to the group, a year after its creation.
Sportswear companies that have signed up include Adidas, Decathalon, Moncler, Puma and Nike.
The coalition is led by a rotating 14-member steering committee, supported by a 23-member operations committee and a secretariat task force, and has begun to set its targets.
The signatories have committed to the Science Based Targets (SBTs) for climate to achieve net-zero carbon impact by 2050; 25% “low-impact materials” sourcing by 2025, 50% renewable energy by 2025 and 100% by 2030.
They have also committed to eliminate unnecessary plastic in packaging by 2030, and will ensure that at least half of other plastic packaging is 100% recycled content.
