After losing Michael Jordan trademark case, Qiaodan Sports changes name

Chinese media have reported that Fujian-based Qiaodan Sports recently changed its name to Zhongqiao Sports within the Tianyancha app (a Chinese enterprise information, business data and management personnel query system).

The move follows a Shanghai court’s ruling that the company must pay ¥300,000 RMB (around $46,000 USD) to American basketball legend Michael Jordan for infringing on the trademarked use of his name (“Qiaodan” is the Chinese translation of Jordan).

The two parties, along with the Chinese sales firm Bairen Trading, were engaged in multiple legal battles over trademarking for more than a decade.
