Jordan Brand hopes to light up Singles’ Day
Jordan Brand, owned and produced by Nike, has unveiled a new Air Jordan 13 Low sneaker, named after China’s Singles’ Day or Double 11 annual shopping festival, held each year on November 11.
Set for limited release on the same day, the new footwear notably features glow-in-the-dark nodes stitched onto “barley green” leather lateral and medial side overlays on a black tumbled leather upper.
In the dark, text reading “Air Jordan 0023” (for Michael Jordan’s famous jersey number), “Air Jordan 2021” and “1111 Low” becomes visible, while cybernetic-style patterning covers the insoles.
The US brand’s Jumpman logo is rendered on the heel, insole and tongue.
Last year, Singles’ Day gross merchandise volumes for Alibaba alone topped both Nike and adidas’ combined annual revenues for 2019.
