Italian technical label Nemen and sportswear brand Puma have teamed up on a new capsule collection, partly inspired by Formula 1 (F1) racing.

Nemen co-founder Leonardo Fasolo described the thought process behind his brand’s collaboration with Puma: “It is impossible to overlook Puma’s amazing legacy of accomplishments within the world of motorsports, so we wanted to tap into that heritage to see if we could combine it with our expertise in realising something new.”

Work on the collection, which features both Italian-made apparel and footwear, included time spent alongside design technicians based out of Puma’s lab in Turin, where the brand designs and produces the suits worn by its F1 drivers.

“We had the opportunity to visit and study the designers and we wanted to try to implement some of their approaches into the collection,” Mr Fasolo added.

Continuing, he said: “For example, the Sports Cat pro racing shoe is the embodiment of pure functionality, there’s no unnecessary extras, it’s all purely about function. With that as a foundation, we wanted to increase the performance aspect by implementing some more technical fabrics and adding iconic Puma components, like their Disc system.”
