Single-layer technology will work in technical jackets, Ternua says

Outdoor brand Ternua will use a woven textile technology called Storm Fleece Pro in its most technical jackets next winter.

Storm Fleece Pro combines in a single layer “the virtues of soft shell and fleece”, Ternua has said, to provide a balance between breathability and wind- and water-resistance. The high density of the surface blocks wind and water without needing a laminate, which makes it stand up better to washing.

Ternua began using the technology several seasons ago in garments for activities such as trail-running. It will now use it in technical jackets in its trekking range, including in the Lekka Hard Hood, Krikko Hard and Edvana Hard Loft jackets.

The company has said that a single-layer construction means the fibres are bound together more strongly, minimising the volume of micro-filaments that garments will shed during washing. A single layer also means the material has to be dyed only once. Finally, the water-repellent treatment in Storm Fleece Pro is PFC-free.
