Allied launches ‘ultra-high-performance’ recycled down

US-based Allied Feather + Down has unveiled Renu:750, an “ultra-high-performance” recycled down, which the brand described as the “pinnacle” of its upcycling and recycling programme.

The material has been designed for use in luxury- and technical-driven products. Testing over 750 fill power, Renu:750 is the highest fill recycled Global Recycle Standard (GRS)-certified post-consumer recycled down available, the brand said.

A limited launch will see Renu:750 released in autumn 2021 alongside two partner brands: Jones Snowboards in the US, plus Axel Arigato in the UK.

Allied initially developed the material alongside Jones Snowboards, to help the brand find a solution that would fit the needs for extreme technical performance, the lowest impact on the planet and with animal welfare at the forefront, the company stated in a press release.

On its use of Renu:750, Jones Snowboards founder Jeremy Jones said: “Finding a material that perfectly balances performance, durability and sustainability is a real challenge and that’s why we are so excited about the Re-up puffy [made with Renu:750]. It sets a new standard for sustainable technical performance.”
