Allied creates ‘lab’ to showcase novel down-based designs

25/03/2022
US-based down provider Allied Feather + Down is launching a "creative innovation lab" called Zero Degrees North that will be a curatorial outlet for what Allied feels are the most interesting products, designs and artists that use down and feather.

Matthew Betcher, creative and director for Allied, said: “Down is one of the world’s oldest insulations and has been instrumental in some of the most significant explorations, discoveries and scientific advances. Zero Degrees North looks at this material in a markedly new way through the lens of the future to explore what is new, interesting and relevant.”

غN will combine social media, physical experiential events and pop-ups. It will also feature a place that where Allied down can be bought by the pound, for new designers or brands wanting to create prototypes.

The first product will be Allied’s own down jacket collaboration. Originally released exclusively to the Japanese market, these four jacket are made at MN Inter-fashion in Japan with performance textiles from Pertex.
