Confident Columbia CEO praises operations staff
The CEO of Columbia Sportswear Company has thanked operations and distribution centre teams for managing the supply chain disruption, and helping the company achieve 10% higher first quarter sales of $625.6 million.

Online sales grew 35%, now making up 20% of total sales. Sales of footwear increased 35% to $157m.

CEO Tim Boyle said: "I’m pleased to report the pace of fundamental recovery exceeded our expectations in the first quarter, resulting in a return to net sales growth and financial results that were stronger than we anticipated.

“Consumer demand is high and retail inventories are lean, resulting in a favourable full price selling environment. I’d like to thank our operations and distribution centre teams that did an amazing job mitigating industry-wide supply chain disruptions and enabling us to deliver these results.”

The company has raised expectations for the year.

Columbia also owns the Sorel, Mountain Hardwear and prAna brands.
