Wild Human teams up with Vivobarefoot
Bushcraft and wilderness skills enterprise Wild Human, based in England’s Lake District, recently revealed the fruits of its collaboration with footwear company Vivobarefoot, which has spanned “the last few years”.
Wild Human described the resulting high-top footwear (pictured), named the Tracker Forest Esc, as “a traditional, minimal outdoor boot, robust and rugged, capable of handling the wet, muddy woods and hills of the temperate environment.”
Made from wild hide leather from free-roaming cattle, complete with minimal seams and a “jungle mesh” lining, the “old-school” shoe has been designed for natural breathability, the company said.
Further, the shoes’ “very, very sticky” grip comes courtesy of a jungle-inspired Michelin rubber compound, with lugs deliberately placed on the sole, particularly under the pad of the big toe and round the sides, for “maximum” traction. Flexible rubber fins in the instep are intended to facilitate easier river crossings over rocks and cobbles.
Wild Human added that a hooked grip kick-off lug has been incorporated at the back of the shoes, to help support the foot when fell walking and going downhill.
