Adidas hits on ‘no-dye’ golf shoes
Sports group adidas recently released a “no-dye” golf footwear collection for both men and women, so-designed to reduce the amount of water and energy used during the thirsty pre-treatment phase when the shoes’ uppers would typically be dyed using conventional methods.
Rather than any particular hue, then, the three footwear styles which form the line instead take the colour of the original materials used in their construction (with the exception of the soles, plus minimal embroidery on the uppers).
One of the models, the Adicross ZX Primeblue, takes its sustainability slant further with the use of yarn which contains at least 50% recycled ocean plastic. Meanwhile, the ZG21 Motion also contains some recycled material, while the third, Boa-equipped model has been designed with a focus on providing a secure, yet flexible fit.
Global footwear director at adidas Golf, Masun Denison, commented: “With this collection, we’re giving golfers another reason beyond just style and performance to feel good about the shoes they’re wearing.”
