Kornit says tackling overproduction is key to sustainability

Israel-based textiles technology provider Kornit Digital has published its 2020 Impact and Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) Report in which it outlines a commitment to addressing waste, chemicals, greenhouse gas emissions and energy and helping the fashion industry to do the same.

Ronen Samuel, Kornit Digital’s CEO (pictured), said: “The fashion industry is unfortunately responsible for severe ecological damage, producing nearly 20% of global wastewater each year and over-producing an average of 30% as an integral part of its ‘normal’ course of doing business. We are focused on changing that trajectory.”

Kornit claims its technology can enable production on demand, which can help eliminate 1.1 billion apparel items overproduced using traditional production methods, based on an industry average of 30% overproduction.

Kornit was founded in 2002, has 670 employees and had revenues of $193 million in 2020.
