Success for Shanghai but Shenzhen shows postponed

Shenzhen Apparel Fabrics and Yarn Expo Shenzhen will now take place from 8 to 10 December instead of the original early-November date.

Wendy Wen, senior general manager of show organiser Messe Frankfurt, said: “With the four shows due to take place shortly, the prudent decision at this stage is to postpone them given the evolving situation around pandemic containment measures.

“Following the successful A/W Shanghai editions held earlier this month, we are determined to still provide this platform for all our stakeholders which is more focused on the South China and Southeast Asia markets, as well as both the upcoming A/W and S/S seasons.”

Shanghai’s Yarn Expo Autumn (pictured) welcomed 429 exhibitors and more than 13,000 visitors.

The New Fibre New World – Textile Materials Innovation Forum covered topics including ‘Green & Sustainable Fibre’ and ‘Domestic Lyocell Fibre’.

Manish Jain, from exhibitor Shangsheng Textile, was showing imported cotton yarns from India, Malaysia and Vietnam. “People are looking for better-priced products in comparison to what is available in China,” he said.

Forest Chu, from Jiangsu Shenghong Science and Technology, said: "Green materials related to sustainability, reducing carbon emissions and energy consumption will see a big leap in the next six to 12 months. In the past, it was mostly overseas brands and suppliers who would visit our booth, but this year more domestic companies have come to learn about us and our development direction, which is evidence of the increasing awareness for green materials.”

Yarn Expo Autumn was held concurrently with Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition, Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition, PH Value and CHIC. The spring editions of these fairs will take place from 9 – 11 March 2022, while the Autumn Editions will be held in August 2022.

The online business matching platform, E-Source, will be accessible until November.
