Puma positive despite ongoing problems
Sportswear brand Puma increased sales by 20% in the third quarter of the year to €1.9 billion “despite operational problems”.

CEO Bjorn Gulden highlighted covid-19-related lockdown of production in South Vietnam, an “overheated” freight market, port congestion and a difficult market situation in China among the problems faced.

He added: “We foresee the high demand for our products to continue, but we also see supply constraints continue to be a problem for the rest of the year. The outlook for our industry in general and for Puma in particular is very positive.”

Third quarter highlights included Puma athletes winning 75 medals at the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, the first lifestyle collection with Neymar Jr  and a new shoebox design that will save 2,800 tonnes of cardboard every year.

The Germany company has raised its outlook and now expects full-year sales to be 25% higher than last year, rather than the 20% that had been estimated.
