Lenzing achieves CDP’s triple ‘A’ rating
Austria-based speciality fibre manufacturer Lenzing has been awarded a triple “A” rating by international non-profit CDP in recognition of the eco-minded steps it has taken in the areas of climate change, water security and deforestation.
Out of a record-breaking 13,000 respondents, Lenzing was among one of only 14 companies who achieved a triple “A” rating as part of CDP’s “A List”. Less than 300 businesses made the list globally.
Chief executive of Lenzing, Cord Prinzhorn, commented that the company was very proud to have beaten its previous year’s score. He elaborated: “The triple ‘A’ rating shows that we are already on a very good path with our sustainability strategy, and it encourages us for the future to remain true to this path and continue to develop in order to be able to welcome a CO2-neutral future as soon as possible.
“The textile and nonwoven industry has to change and we strongly believe that we cannot be complacent about the inherent climate advantage of wood-based cellulosic fibres. This is why we have to set ourselves ambitious sustainability targets and are making huge investments in order to meet them.”
CDP’s chief executive, Paul Simpson, meanwhile described his firm’s “A List” as a celebration of “those companies who are preparing themselves to excel in the economy of the future by taking action today.”
