Pangaia and RDD create new, upcycled hues
10/03/2022
Based near Braga in Portugal, Valérius Têxteis subsidiary RDD (which stands for research, design and development) has worked with Pangaia’s cotton-rich leftover materials and offcuts to create a nine-piece collection comprising hoodies, t-shirts and track pants made from 50% recycled cotton, rewoven with 50% organic undyed cotton.
The results are three new mélange hues for the brand: moonlight gray (resulting from a combination of Mojave sand, off-white and stone-coloured fibres), sea mist blue (from a mix of cobalt blue and orchid-purple-dyed fibres) and lobster pink (from flamingo pink and persimmon orange fibres).
Pangaia has previously developed C-Fiber, Frutfiber and Plntfiber collections through its partnership with RDD. According to reports, the brand is set to reveal further co-created material technologies this year, resulting from its work with the Portuguese firm.
