Incentives across Teijin group for emissions reductions

07/06/2022

Fibre manufacturer Teijin has announced new internal goals for lowering its groupwide environmental impact. These include internal carbon pricing, which it says will help quantify CO2 emissions as costs and, thereby, create economic incentives to reduce emissions across the group.

Teijin said it had taken these steps in response to new calls from the Japan Climate Initiative (JCI), of which it is a member, for the government in Japan to take stronger action to mitigate climate change.

JCI wants plans to expand the use of renewable energy in Japan to continue, despite the current fossil-energy crisis and global instability.

The JCI network was established in Japan in 2018 to help entities working to combat climate change share best practice.
