Dimension-Polyant unveils CleenTec seal for packs

A new seal by technical textile producer Dimension-Polyant, CleenTec, has been designed to signpost which fabrics from its X-Pac pack and bag materials line contain recycled, bio-based or “responsibly sourced” materials.

The identifier will also signify when 100% climate-neutral processes and facilities have contributed to an article’s production.

“We wanted to create a seal that would help brands better identify and understand our responsibly sourced, carbon-neutral fabrics [and] that we go beyond being just a supplier of another recycled fabric,” explained chief executive, Uwe Stein.

Climate consultancy and software developer ClimatePartner has certified all CleenTec-approved fabrics as carbon-neutral from cradle to customer and at end of life, Mr Stein added, as per its own product life-cycle analysis.

Among the X-Pac fabrics that thus far bear the CleenTec seal are new products RX and X11, both of which will be presented at Dimension-Polyant parent Sioen Industries’ stand at Frankfurt-based trade show Techtextil from June 21 through 24.

The X-Pac RX product range consists of 100% post-consumer recycled polyester face fabric from discarded polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles, reinforced with the firm’s X-Ply polyester. The X11 collection, meanwhile, is engineered with 100% organic cotton duck face fabric, recycled X-Ply polyester reinforcement and a polyester film backing. All X-Ply fibre reinforcements are made from post-consumer recycled polyester, according to the company.

In related news, another product under the X-Pac umbrella, UVX40, a sailcloth face fabric which Dimension-Polyant describes as its strongest, most durable laminate, is now made from bio-based Dyneema fibres.
