Egyptian cotton programme uses Haelixa DNA marker
Traceability solutions provider Haelixa has piloted a new programme to trace Egyptian cotton from source to premium shirts.
To make shirts traceable, Haelixa has developed a DNA marker to label the raw material, premium Egyptian cotton. The marker has been applied as fine spray to Goza 96 lint cotton in Borg Al Arab in Egypt.
Swiss manufacturer Weba used the cotton to weave fabric for shirts. Haelixa’s DNA marker stayed embedded into the material and was able to withstand industrial processing, ensuring traceability from the source to the finished garment.
In this case, the marked fabric was used to make cotton dress shirts for Hugo Boss.
