Winter sports brands opt for Lyocell
Fibre manufacturer Lenzing has highlighted a series of projects with prominent brands, showcasing their use of its Lyocell fibres in current winter sports collections.
Lenzing said that wearing garments with Lyocell in the material mix would help winter sports enthusiasts to have “an environmentally responsible winter”. It based this statement on the renewability of wood-based Lyocell fibres and their low consumption of water compared to cotton.
Examples it highlighted included the Malyn Merino Top from clothing brand Picture (see image), which contains 30% Lyocell and 70% merino wool.
A down jacket that forms part of the Earthkeepers range from Timberland also contains Lyocell, as do the Activist balaclava from Houdini, the Basecamp gilet from Marini Sportswear and the Samuela jacket from LaMunt.
