Made in Green label for Hamburg SV replica shirts
Football club Hamburg SV is to apply the Oeko-Tex Made In Green label to replica shirts on sale to fans in its official shops.
Made In Green is a traceable product label for textiles tested to make sure they are produced under sustainable and socially responsible conditions and are free from harmful substances. The label is awarded by testing service provider Hohenstein.
Hohenstein said it had given permission for Hamburg SV to use the label on its products because it was impressed by the green credentials of the factory in India that makes its replica shirts and by the logistics service it uses to transport them.
“Sustainably produced textiles are very important to us,” said Sascha Steinbrück, head of merchandising at the football club. He said fans buying the club’s replica shirts could be sure of being able to trace the fibres back through the entire supply chain “and that they meet our standards in every respect”.
