IOAS, an eco-labelling body formerly known as the International Organic Accreditation Service, has suspended Control Union India’s ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation and placed a restriction of its ability to grant any further approval in relation to organic textile labels Textile Exchange (TE) and Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).

ISO/IEC 17065 is a mark of an accreditor’s competence in certifying product, process or service quality.

The three suspensions cover all scopes, IOAS said, adding that it had asked the organisation to “take corrective actions”. In the meantime, it may not accept new applications, issue certificates to applications already in progress or extend existing operators’ certifications.

IOAS also recommended Control Union India's suspension from the Canada Organic Regime (COR)’s CAN/CGSB-32.312 standard, across all categories.

It invited all who rely on accreditation from the Maharashtra-based entity to “take note” of its decision.
