Accelerating Circularity shares textile recycler directory
US textile-to-textile recycling non-profit Accelerating Circularity has released what it is calling a comprehensive catalogue of international recyclers.
The aim is to “catalyse connections” between stakeholders up and down the textile value chain, the organisation said. Its new database focuses on commercial technologies for the chemical and mechanical recycling of polyester and cellulosic fibres.
Users may filter and sort the information provided against each recycler as they wish and details such as location, feedstock fibre type and restrictions are all searchable via the Airtable-enabled directory.
Scalability, viability and transparency are all key components to Accelerating Circularity’s strategy, it added. The non-profit is already trialling various textile-to-textile capabilities in both the US and Europe.
“Our partners are leaders in the apparel industry and even competitors are engaged with the intent to make circularity a reality”, commented founder and president of the project, Karla Magruder, who stressed that "circularity is a team sport".
The directory, which is due to be updated frequently, can be accessed here.
