Registrations open for Textile Institute World Conference

25/04/2023

The ninety-second session of the Textile Institute World Conference, which typically takes place every two years, will run from July 3 to 6 at the University of Huddersfield in the UK.

Hosted by conference chairman Parikshit Goswami, a professor at the university, alongside the academic institution’s technical textiles research centre and department of fashion and textiles, the theme this year is ‘Sustainability of the textile and fashion supply chain – transitioning to zero carbon and zero waste’. Participants will consider every step in the chain, from raw materials through finished products’ end-of-life phases.

The event will seek to demonstrate how academic-industry-government dialogues could benefit the industry and help “create a meaningful roadmap towards achieving zero carbon emissions before 2050”, organisers said.

Key sub-themes include technical textiles, green skills, composites and dyes, pigments and polymers.

Speakers are expected to present on areas as diverse as textile recycling, yarn structures and spinning, biomaterials, nanotechnology, printing, advanced fibres and materials manufacture, leather and footwear.

Extracurricular highlights are to include a Textile Institute gala dinner and awards ceremony on day two, plus poster presentations, an evening reception and University of Huddersfield graduate showcase on July 5.
