Hyosung introduces creora bio-based, creora regen elastane in black

Fibre producer Hyosung will debut black versions of its creora bio-based elastane and 100% recycled creora regen elastane at Portland’s Functional Fabric Fair from April 4 to 5, the company has announced.

It described both fibres as capable of delivering a “deeper, darker” black, which it said could help eliminate grin-through, without compromising the stretch and recovery properties typically expected of creora-branded stretch fibres.

“Several brands approached us to develop a dope-dyed black elastane, with the additional benefits of being partly made from renewable resources or 100% recycled,” explained global marketing director for textiles, Simon Whitmarsh-Knight. “It made perfect sense to take the technology used to make our successful creora black elastane and add it to it our creora regen and creora bio-based elastane to meet our customers’ diverse needs.”

Creora bio-based elastane not only meets SGS “eco-product” criteria, but also now carries USDA certification. The fibres launched in the activewear market as part of the Pangaia brand’s Activewear 3.0 collection last autumn.

Hyosung will additionally present its Fashion Design Center's latest performance fabrics and garment concepts, Global Recycled Standard-certified regen ocean nylon, made from 100% recycled fishing nets and other reclaimed nylon waste, plus regen xanadu, creora color+ dyeable elastane and its creora EasyFlex comfort stretch fibre.

The developer, based in Seoul, signed up to Surfers Against Sewage’s Ocean Network earlier in March.
