Laguna, Tencel and Hyosung debut new stretch fabrics
Los Angeles mill Laguna Fabrics, a specialist producer of knits for the shapewear and womenswear markets, launched its new Natural Selection collection at Functional Fabric Fair New York in late July.
Laguna typically uses “over 70%” natural materials in its blends, according to company spokesperson David Roshan.
The line-up presented at the show was manufactured in partnership with Austria’s Lenzing, a maker of wood-based manmade cellulosic fibres (MMCFs) such as its Tencel-branded lyocell, as well as South Korean fibre developer Hyosung, which supplied its creora bio-based elastane. It includes refined ribs, interlocks and single jerseys. Creora bio-based is generally made from at least 30% renewable resources, like US-grown industrial field corn.
“This alternative stretch fibre performs exceptionally well, addressing the challenge of implementing sustainable options,” as Mr Roshan described.
