Lycra launches Adaptiv Black and Adpativ Xtra Life fibres
Two new elastanes from US fibre manufacturer The Lycra Company debuted at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics (Intertextile Apparel) in August: Lycra Adaptiv Black and Lycra Adaptiv Xtra Life.
The producer launched Adaptiv around two years ago. Its latest technologies are intended to increase flagship fibre Lycra’s durability, offering “a winning combination for consumers and customers”, in the words of chief brand and innovation officer, Steve Stewart.
First up, Lycra Adaptiv Black has been engineered for “long-lasting” and “size-inclusive” sportswear and athletic leisurewear, with added benefits like fade-resistant, spun-in black colour.
The stretch-fibre technology is designed to “reduce damage caused by ultraviolet rays, sunscreen and anti-chafing creams” that may otherwise interfere with garment fit, functionality or lifespan, according to the Delaware-based business.
Lycra Adaptiv Xtra Life, meanwhile, has been developed for swimwear and activewear applications. Its stretch properties can last “up to ten times longer” than conventional elastane, while delivering enhanced shaping and comfort and “a wider fit window to accommodate different body shapes”.
In related news, The Lycra Company is due to launch circularity-focused promotional campaign Waste for Good in Europe during the final quarter. The emphasis will be on its Coolmax EcoMade and Thermolite EcoMade fibres, each of which is made from recycled textiles.
The developer released its very first annual sustainability report last autumn.
